March 2010 eNews
Greetings CFR Friends!

Welcome back!  With spring around the corner, we're busy getting ready for another exciting season here in the hills!  We have a calendar full of special events that are sure to lead to many GREAT times!  We can hardly wait until we meet again!

In the spirit of St. Patrick, we offer the following blessing:  There are good ships, and there are wood ships, the ships that sail the sea.  But the best ships, are FRIENDSHIPS, and may they always be.

In the spirit of Marv's St. Patrick's Party this weekend, we offer the following toast:  Here's to a long life and a merry one; a quick death and an easy one; a pretty girl and an honest one; A COLD BEER AND ANOTHER ONE!

See you real soon,

The Naked Truth

Interview with Mike (Secretary)

Please allow us to introduce Mike, a.k.a. "Inspector Gadget"...

Word Games:

CFReNews:  Brunette or Blonde?
Mike:  Redhead
CFReNews:  Hair-Short or Long?
Mike:  Long
CFReNews:  Chest or Heinie?
Mike:  Chest
CFReNews:  Sneakers or Flip-Flops?
Mike:  Equal
CFReNews:  Boxers or Briefs/Panites or Thongs?
Mike:  Boxers/Thongs

More Important Stuff:

CFReNews:  What is your favorite radio station?
Mike:  WORD
CFReNews:  Name 4 things you always have with you?
Mike:  Computer, PDA, Ham Radio, Phone
CFReNews:  Before you go to sleep at night, what do you think of?
Mike:  Do I need to take a poop?
CFReNews:  What is a lesson you learned the hard way?
Mike:  The need to recognize gold diggers (choose wives more carefully).
CFReNews:  What is something you've lost and need to find?
Mike:  My mind and my hair.
CFReNews:  What do you think of when you look at the sky?
Mike:  An eclipse.
CFReNews:  What was your favorite subject in school?
Mike:  Chemistry because I was good at it.  I could make anything.  Then math.
CFReNews:  What do you find romantic?
Mike:  Greek dinners at the Greek Isle.
CFReNews:  How do you want to be remembered after you die?
Mike:  As a person who cared for others.
CFReNews:  What 3 things couldn't you live without if you were stranded on a desert island?
Mike:  Food, Water and Beer.  On second thought, I would like to replace water with sex.
CFReNews:  How do you like to travel?  Foot, Car, Plane, Boat, etc.?
Mike:  Definitely a car because you can stop for beer, barthroom breaks and listen to your own music.  In the long run, I believe traveling by plane can take as much time as by car due to the time spent in airports.
CFReNews:  What size shoe do you wear?
Mike:  11
CFReNews:  When working in groups, which role do you prefer?  Leader, Secretary, Presenter or No Role?
Mike:  It depends on what your working on.  If I'm working on something I know about like chemistry, I prefer the Leader because I know about it.  If I am working on something I know nothing about, like planting flowers, I prefer No Role, so that I can sit back, listen and learn.
CFReNews:  If you were alone in a desert, what would your first thought be?
Mike:  My first thought would be survival.  What there is?  Where it is?  What have I got as far as weapons?  etc.
CFReNews:  Have you ever seen a tornado?  Would you like to?
Mike:  Yes, I chased them many times in the early 70's for a portable TV station in Georgetown, KY and then I would report on what I had seen.  I have been a member of ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Services)  for 36 years, which is a a storm chasers group.  We have chased hurricanes, tonradoes, floods, etc.
CFReNews:  How tall are you?
Mike:  6'5"
CFReNews:  What is your favorite number?
Mike:  #13 because it's weird.  No one else likes the #13.
CFReNews:  How many siblings do you have?
Mike:  Sister, 2 years younger.  She is a yuppie, baby boomer.
CFReNews:  Is there anything you won't tolerate in a relationship?
Mike:  I don't not tolerate anything.  I have dislikes, but nothing that I will draw the line at.
CFReNews:  If you could bring back one famous person from the dead for a day, who would it be and why?
Mike:  I would bring back two.  George Washington because he understood the concept of how a country should be setup and run.  Benjamin Franklin because he understood the concept of a republic.
CFReNews:  If you could live in any other place, where would you live and why?
Mike:  Jamaica because it's warm.
CFReNews:  How do you handle arguments/disagreements with other people?
Mike:  I walk away, unless serious, then I'm all in.
CFReNews:  Where were you when 9/11 happened?
Mike:  A bedroom in Rock Hill.  Vicki was in the shower and I yelled for her to come out.
CFReNews:  Name a television show that you never miss?
Mike:  Glenn Beck.
CFReNews:  What's the scariest thing you can think of?
Mike:  Obama being named dictator.
CFReNews:  If you were to give $10 million dollars to a charity or cause of your choice, what would you choose and why?
Mike:  ST. Judes Hospital for Children in Asheville.  Danny Thomas built the hospital so long ago.  I currently donate $50 monthly to this organization because they have done things for so many kids for a very long time.
CFReNews:  Who is your biggest inspiration?
Mike:  Sister Etheria.  She was my 5th grade math teacher and she was 5'2" and 350 lbs.  She proved to me that it didn't make any difference who you were or where you came from, you could make it and be something.  She also smacked the piss out of me and made me walk the line.
CFReNews:  What did you want to be when you were 12 years old?
Mike:  Pharmacist.  My next door neighbor was one.  I also grew up in a drugstore, working.
CFReNews:  If you could be any animal, what would it be and why?
Mike:  Polar Bear because I could lay there, be nice, until it's not time to be nice.
CFReNews:  What is the best thing you like about CFR?  What's the least?
Mike:  The best thing about CFR is the membership/members, the people.  The least thing is people with personal agendas against other people at CFR, CFR as a whole or both.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank both Mike and Vicki for allowing us to share a fun-filled evening with them.  We had many laughs with great friends, which reminds me, that's what CFR is all about!  Mike we appreciate the contributions you make to CFR, a club you truly love.

P.s.  For those of you with gidget/gadget questions, Mike a.k.a. Inspector Gadget, is your "go-to" guy.  He has many and answers for all.

Stay tuned, as we profile Marion T. next!

Cornhole a.k.a. "tailgate toss", is a bean bag toss lawn game in which players take turns pitching cornhole bags a.k.a. cotton duck bags filled with feed corn-at a raised platform with a hole in the far end. A corn bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point. Play continues until a player/team reaches the score of 21.
